How to Play Steve Jobs - Hammurabi
Goal: Survive for 10 years and end with the highest possible Pawn population.
Game Over: The game ends if your Pawns reach 0, or after completing Year 10.
Core Resources:
- Pawns: Your population. They need Food to survive (~20 bushels/year each) and provide labor to Plant crops (1 pawn tends 10 acres). Population changes based on feeding, starvation, plague, and migration.
- Food: Used to buy Land, used as seed for Planting (1 bushel/acre), and crucial for Feeding Pawns. Gained from harvest and selling Land. Lost to rats and mismanagement!
- Land: Required for Planting crops. Can be bought or sold each year.
- Land Price: Fluctuates randomly each year, affecting buying/selling costs.
- Status: Shows the general well-being and starvation risk of your population based on feeding history. Keep it 'Well Fed' or 'Content' if possible!
- Volume/Mute: Use the slider (most devices) or Mute toggle (iOS) to control background music. On iOS, use device buttons for volume level.
Your Decisions Each Year:
- Buy/Sell Land: Adjust your land holdings based on price and strategy. You cannot buy and sell in the same year.
- Plant Crops: Decide how many acres to plant. Costs 1 bushel of Food per acre. Limited by available Land, Food for seed, and Pawns for labor (max 10 acres/pawn). Yields 3-7 bushels/acre typically.
- Feed Pawns: Decide how many bushels of Food to allocate per pawn. Feeding below 20 increases starvation risk over time (reflected in 'Status'). Good feeding can attract immigrants.
Tips: Balance feeding your people, investing in land, and planting enough for future growth. Watch out for random events like plagues and rats! Keep a food surplus as a buffer.
